Authorized claims for Damaged Merchandise:
Kimball & Young will accept claims for manufacturer’s defects and
shipping errors. The store/dealer has 30 days from the receipt of goods
to make a claim for damages in shipment. Claims for damages occurring
during shipment should be made to the freight carrier. No claims will be
accepted for goods damaged by customers or stores.
We request that all concealed manufacturer’s defects be reported to
Kimball and Young within twelve months.
Kimball and Young Mirrors are warranted to be free of defects in
material and workmanship for three years. For lighted mirrors, this
warranty does not cover the original light bulb beyond the “normal”
lifetime of the bulb. Before taking back a mirror from a customer and
asking Kimball and Young for an authorized return, the store/dealer
should be sure the mirror is a manufacturer’s defect and within
warranty.
Authorized returns will either be requested to be returned or DIF.
Authorization Required:
All claims for returns or DIF must have prior authorization.
Authorization numbers may be obtained by calling or faxing the Company.
Order forms can be used to document requests for returns. Any returns
that arrive without authorization will be refused.
ALL AUTHORIZATIONS FOR RETURNS EXPIRE IF THE PRODUCT IS
NOT RECEIVED WITHIN 30 DAYS FROM THE TIME IT WAS ORIGINALLY AUTHORIZED.
Determination of Returns or DIF:
Kimball & Young prefers to destroy damaged goods, rather than return
them. All DIFs must be viewed by our representative to validate customer
claims. A Return Authorization may be preferred, rather than a DIF, in
cases of unusual damage claims so that the Company can analyze the
manufacturer’s defects to improve product quality. If in question, call
the Company for guidance. The objective of our DIF policy is to prevent
charges for shipping of unsaleable goods back to the Company. Please
insure the integrity of this policy by authorizing manufacturer’s
defects only.
Handling Charges:
Kimball & Young will assess no handling charges for returns of defective
merchandise. However, in those rare circumstances involving returns of
non-defective merchandise, where no shipping error has occurred, a 15%
Handling Charge ($15 minimum) will be assessed. These goods must be
returned within 30 days of receipt of goods, in resalable condition, in
the original packaging, and with all customer price tags and stickers
removed.
Freight Charges:
All authorized Returns must be shipped freight prepaid. Returns shipped
freight collect to Kimball & Young will be refused.
Issuance of Credit Memos, Statements, or Checks:
Kimball & Young does issue Credit Memos. Copies of credit memos will be
faxed upon request. No checks will be issued to any customer. All
merchandise returns or DIFs will be credited to the customer’s account.
All credits not used within one year of the date of issuance will
expire.
